Biography

Jeri is the daughter of Dorothy Payne Cate and granddaughter of Henry D Payne (Peini) and great-granddaughter of Sarah Channon Peini and great-great-granddaughter of Cha-met. Cha-met was interred on Stundosen prior to the island washing away. Jeri’s focus is on Economic Development for the Tribe and Tribal citizens, protecting Tribal rights and land, Indian Child Welfare, and Housing. Being a part of Tribal Council Jeri seeks and identifies solutions to advance the Tribe and works for the betterment of the Citizens. Jeri was first elected to Tribal Council in 2015, serving one year as Secretary. She was re-elected in 2018 and is currently serving as Chairperson.
